Breakers West, West Palm Beach, FL

This house was originally built in 1986. It was a model home for a very well-known firm who is still building amazing homes today. We immediately saw that all of the construction details were top-grade, so we knew that this house had "great bones"! While several families enjoyed the home over the years, the last family was unfortunately not able to show it the Love and support it needed and deserved. It actually sat vacant for a couple of years until destiny brought this house together with its current residents, who fell in love with its potential immediately. I had helped this couple with their previous 2 residences and we were all very excited at the prospects of this impressive project. Below is a chronology of how the project developed... it is still an ongoing venture:

Here is how we found the step down formal living room. The 2 french doors opened out onto a large, west-facing unscreened patio, which we will see later on. The floor was the original light blue (although it doesn't look like it in this photo...) wool carpet from 1986. For some unknown reason, this carpet had been laid over the top of gorgeous polished marble!  On the right side of the photo, you are seeing a hallway leading to the master suite, with Pergo covering the foyer floor.

Look at the polished marble that had been covered by the carpet in the living room and by Pergo laminate flooring in the hallway! The owners told me that with such a large space, they were not afraid of some color. You will soon see how I tied this formal living room in with the formal dining room...

Here are a couple of images of how we found the formal living room when the owners took over the house:

This is looking from the back of the original sunken formal living room toward the front of the house. You see the entry foyer with the Pergo leading into the dining room

Here is the inside of the formal living room. It had silk string wallpaper, the Pergo on the floors, the shiney brass chandelier... what the picture doesn't show is the huge 6' x 8' mirror that was inside the coffered ceiling! All very high-end for the mid-'80s...
